Immigration / Border Security

Secure borders are critical to our nation's survival. I strongly support enhancing border security.

More important than apprehending people as they cross illegally, is enacting policies which deter them from coming here in the first place.

Our current policies reward and subsidize illegal immigration. We provide them with employment opportunities and various government handouts. As a general rule, when you subsidize something, you get more of it.

The number one objective of my plan to deal with illegal immigration is to take away the economic incentive for them to come here. The first part would be to heavily fine employers for hiring someone illegally. The fine must be so great that it does not make sense for them to take the risk. This would send a message far and wide that if you come here illegally, you will not be able to find a job. The second part is to end all government subsidies, welfare programs and handouts to illegal immigrants. It makes absolutely no sense for the American taxpayer to reward people for breaking our laws.

The second objective of my plan is physical security. Our southern border must be secured with additional border patrol agents. The initial cost is expensive, but it will be worth it in the long run as our schools, hospitals and prisons realize massive savings because of the absence of illegal immigrants.

The third objective of my plan is to introduce a constitutional amendment to modify the birthright citizenship clause. It would require persons born here after ratification of the amendment to have both parents be of legal status in order to be given birthright citizenship.

Our legal immigration system is also in need of improvement. I would work to simplify the Immigration and Customs Enforcement bureaucracy and speed up the processing of legal immigrants.
