Trade and Treaties
My views on trade are simple. I support free trade, and do not support "managed trade" which includes agreements and organizations such as NAFTA, CAFTA, GATT, WTO and IMF. They threaten our sovereignty by taking precedence over the laws of the United States. I will actively work to withdraw from all of them.
Treaties can have their place from time to time as a way of helping two or more countries agree on something. The problem with the current process is that the executive branch determines whether or not America is a signatory to these treaties. This unchecked power is dangerous and threatens our system of government. Once in office, I will work to require that all treaties be approved by congress before going into effect.
